Simply Serene Primary Bathroom

It’s always a pleasure when former clients reach out seeking help with new spaces in their homes, as was the case with one of my favorite Virginia families looking to breathe new life into their primary bathroom.

A New Bathroom Oasis…

The Before…

As a part of the process, we stepped back to consider a range of worthwhile upgrades — from expanding the footprint to heated floors — and then refine the scope based on their priorities and budget. While some items were tabled, we kept the focus on the priorities for my clients:

  • Creating a fresh and inviting space (bye, bye blah beige)

  • Eliminating annoyances — from a vessel sink to hard-to-clean grout; and

  • Balancing function (i.e., storage) with a clean aesthetic

Partnering with M&A Renovations, you’ll see the end result below. We focused on a netural palette mixing tones of gray with warmer whites, as well as polished and honed finishes (including the marble checkerboard floor with alternating polished white and honed gray squares. Opting for storage over an extended shower, we did create a deeper wall separating the stall from the floating linen cabinet to create a extra deep niche for larger bottles and upgraded the bench by creating a waterfall edge, using the same Cosmos Inferno honed quartz for the niche, bench, thresholds and countertops. All of the cabinetry and shelving came from the Linear line at Room & Board, and we got creative using shelving to create filler pieces and a finished look. And, while we didn’t end up with the soft blue or green shower tile we explored, we brought in a slate blue with the vanity light from Rejuvenation, towels and accessories.
